Emery as found in nature is a mainly a mixture of Corundum and iron oxide. Corundum is the toughest and hardest form of Aluminum oxide, which imparts the abrasive qualities to Emery. There are other minor contents like Silica, Titania, Calcia and Magnesia, which can alter the quality of Emery significantly.
We manufacture emery by imitating natural process of converting bauxite to Emery. Appropriate grade of bauxite along with coke is charged in furnaces and subjected to extremely high temperatures till it melts. This molten mass is allowed to recrystallized as it cools, into a rock of Emery.
This rock is crushed in stages and the crushed rock is graded to various particle sizes in vibrating screens. Whereas Specifications as per the Indian Standards are followed for major part of the material, special in-house specifications have also been developed by experience for several applications like floor hardener. Customized grading is also provided by working closely with the customer.
